Wayne's World - where has he been?Posted by wayne in Untagged |

It is about time I wrote another blog because I have been dashing about the UK (and Ireland recently) delivering motivational/attitudinal training programmes to staff who work in the care sector. Most significantly I have been honoured to be able to do a lot of work (hence the gap in my blogs) with care staff in a national care charity - The Disabilities Trust. What a remarkable bunch of people they are, caring for, assessing and rehabilitating service users within autism units, physical disability and acquired brain injury units.
Wherever and whenever I train at these Units I always ask for a guided tour so that I get a feel for the working environment and get a glimpse of ‘the tip of the iceberg' of the daily life of the place. It is always an interesting and humbling experience.
As we all no doubt know, the care sector is not the highest paid of professions, yet it still attracts amazing people who work within (in what would appear to most of us to be) a very challenging environment. I see the best of human qualities like dedication, caring, patience, empathy, love, understanding and teamwork shine through, and where these are combined with a positive mental attitude and high levels of energy, THAT is when the highest levels of quality care are attained.
It has been and continues to be a deeply rewarding experience and a privilege to work in these type of third sector organisations. I love my job!
