‘Vision without action is a daydream, action without vision is a nightmare’

What an athlete truly believes about themselves will usually determine their performance and success , especially in the long term. From our own shores the likes of Steve Redgrave, Nick Faldo, Ellen Macarthur, Seb Coe, Lewis Hamilton, and Sally Gunnell all possess amazing mental strength and self belief. So what sets apart the best from the rest?
Any aspiring athlete or sportsperson (at whatever level) will regularly commit many hours per week working hard in the gym and on the training field improving their physical strength, talents and skills. Looking after the body with the right nutrition and rest is obviously paramount as well.
Yet, for all the dedication to conditioning the physical body to the rigours of competition many athletes are unable to answer YES to the next big question? ‘As an athlete, a team or a sports coach, how much of your training and preparation for competition do you actually dedicate to improving the power and endurance of your, or your teams ‘mental muscle’? What goes on ‘in between the ears’ is equally as important, and many would say more important to achieving success than pure physical prowess, skill and natural talent. My Inspiring excellence Sports Coaching can help in the following key areas of sporting excellence and performance:
